Research Prize in ICL of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy to Participate in the Adamas Residencies 2026: Every year, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy offers a research prize to a doctoral or post-doctoral researcher in the field of international criminal justice and human rights to support their research residency at the Château de Goutelas. Initiated by the French jurist Mireille Delmas-Marty, the Adamas residencies are a European residency programme for legal researchers at the Château de Goutelas in Marcoux, France. From 4 to 13 September 2026, the Château de Goutelas will be hosting both lawyers and artists, who will be invited to conduct their research in a unique cultural and historical site, while finding stimulating opportunities to cross-fertilise their work. The researcher must be fluent in French but can be carrying out their research in another language.
Since 2021, the Adamas program has been run by the Château de Goutelas, heritage site for culture, in partnership with the Constitutional Council, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy, the International Association of Economic Law (A.I.D.E.), the Robert Badinter Institute (formerly IERDJ), and more recently joined by the Association of Labor Law and Social Security (AFDT).Applications should be sent to registration@nurembergacademy.org before 15 June 2026. Doctoral Workshop on Sustainability and Law in Context: The Sustainability and Public Law PhDs of Radboud University in Nijmegen (the Netherlands), and the Law and Transformation Programme at the Joachim Herz Doctoral School of Law, Leuphana University of Lüneburg (Germany), kindly invite you to the third round of our Doctoral Workshop on Sustainability and Law in Context on 9 December 2026. At the Workshop, PhD candidates researching one or more aspects of the intersection between sustainability and law will have the opportunity to present their research (around 10 minutes) in moderated thematic panels and engage in discussions with the other participants. Workshop on Neutrality in Legal Scholarship: Ruhr University Bochum has announced a call for papers for a workshop on the impact of neutrality on research and knowledge production in legal scholarship. The workshop will take place in Bochum on 9 and 10 December 2026 and is designed for early career researchers from various disciplines (law, philosophy, sociology, politics, and science studies). Professor Jean D’Aspremont, Professor Stewart Manley, Professor Vasuki Nesiah, and Professor Mando Rachovitsa will serve as discussants. This workshop is funded by the Volkswagen Foundations, and all travel and accommodation expenses are expected to be covered. Participants are invited to send their abstract (max 500 words) and a 2-page CV to the co-chairs of the workshop, Sissy Katsoni (Spyridoula.Katsoni[at]ruhr-uni-bochum.de) and Julian Hettihewa (jhettih2[at]uni-bonn.de), mentioning ‘Call for Papers: The Impact of Neutrality on Research and Knowledge Production in Legal Scholarship’ in the subject line. ILA Egyptian Branch Annual Conference 2026 – Contemporary Challenges in International Law: The International Law Association (ILA) Egyptian Branch invites submissions for its First Annual Conference 2026, “Contemporary Challenges in International Law: Regional Perspectives & Emerging Prospects,” to be held at the German University in Cairo on 14 and 15 November 2026. The conference will bring together scholars, practitioners, diplomats, legal advisers, and early-career researchers to discuss pressing issues across public and private international law. Panels will address the use of force and conflict management, international humanitarian law, climate and resource governance, investment disputes, and commercial and maritime disputes arising from geopolitical fragmentation and armed conflict.
Confirmed speakers include distinguished scholars and practitioners in the field of international law. Abstracts of 300–500 words, together with a short biography, should be submitted to ilaegyptbranch@gmail.com by 1 July 2026. Further details are included in the Call for Papers.
Kabarak Law Review: Kabarak Law Review invites submissions for Volume 5 themed 40 Years of the UN Declaration on the Right to Development (1986) and 30 Years of Mahmood Mamdani’s Citizen and Subject (1996). One may submit on either of the themes or jointly.We welcome scholarly contributions responding to our dual theme this year interrogating the right to development and the theses of Mamdani’sCitizen and subject, and especially how these two themes have been pronounced on by the 20 year old African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Full-length scholarly papers of 8,000–10,000 words are due 31 July 2026, while short pieces, including book reviews, case reviews, and the Kianjokoma brothers tribute, The Police Accountability Review and Honouring our Elders: Conversations with the Living-Dead, are due 30 June 2026. Special Blog Symposium on the African Youth Charter @20: The Editorial Board of the Kabarak Law Review invites submissions for a special Blog Symposium : The African Youth Charter @20. As we mark 20 years since the Charter’s adoption, this symposium offers a space to reflect on its impact, the legal barriers facing African youth today, and the concept of waithood in the 21st century.
We welcome short scholarly reflections on youth political participation, state accountability, and the domestication of the Charter at national level. Blog articles should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words, and may be submitted in English or Swahili. Authors should follow the Kabarak University Legal Citation Guide (KALCI). Submissions will be reviewed and published on a rolling basis. The deadline for submission is 31 July 2026, and contributions should be emailed directly to klrb@kabarak.ac.ke.

First International Congress on Human Rights – The Inter-American Human Rights System – Structural Challenges and the Way Forward: The Law Faculties of Universidad Panamericana (Guadalajara, Mexico), Ave Maria School of Law, and Abat Oliba CEU are hosting the first edition of the First International Congress on Human Rights, to be held on 17 and 18 September 2026 at Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara, Mexico. The conference will address structural challenges facing the Inter-American Human Rights System across six panels covering: defense of cases and selection of judges and commissioners; control de convencionalidad, subsidiarity and margin of appreciation; the IACtHR and international standards; interpretation of the ACHR; substantive human rights issues; and proposals to strengthen the IAHRS. Four keynote addresses will be delivered by Judge Alberto Borea Odría (IACtHR), former ECtHR Judge Javier Borrego Borrego, former IACHR Commissioner Carlos Bernal Pulido, and IACHR President Edgar Stuardo Ralón Orellana.
