The 2007 ASIL Annual Meeting: Guest Bloggers, Opinio Juris Reception, and More!

The 2007 ASIL Annual Meeting: Guest Bloggers, Opinio Juris Reception, and More!

We are fast approaching that yearly gathering of the tribe that is the Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law. The foremost yearly conference on public and private international law, this year’s conference will be held March 28 – 31 at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington DC. (The agenda is here.)

Among its dozens of panels and lectures, this year’s Annual Meeting will also have the second Opinio Juris Reception on International Law Blogging on Friday, March 30th from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. You do not have to be registered for the Annual Meeting to attend. We invite any interested readers or bloggers in Washington DC on the 30th to come join us at the Fairmont for some free (for you) wine and cheese and a chance to meet and socialize with other bloggers, readers, and international lawyers.

In the run-up to this year’s meeting, we are also happy to welcome as guest bloggers the ASIL’s Annual Meeting co-chairs: William Aceves of California Western School of Law, Chantal Thomas of University of Minnesota Law School, and Charles Hunnicutt of Troutman Sanders LLP. The co-chairs will post about the Annual Meeting’s themes and events this week.

Next week, during the Annual Meeting itself, those of us from Opinio Juris who will be there (I think that’s everyone but for Kevin—that’s one downside of New Zealand!) will try to do a little “near live” blogging about the events we attend.

We hope you can make it to the Annual Meeting and especially to our reception on the 30th. For those of you who cannot, we will update you here.
