Call for Papers

  • The National Research University Higher School of Economics and PluriCourts are pleased to announce a call for papers for their conference on “Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property: Emergence of New International Customary Law Rules – by Whom?” on 3-4 October 2019 in Moscow, Russia. Paper proposals should be submitted via e-mail to Prof. Geir Ulfstein (geir [dot] ulfstein [at] jus [dot] uio [dot] no) and Dr. Vladislav Starzhenetskiy (vstarzhenetskiy [at] hse [dot] ru). The deadline for submitting proposals is 1 July 2019. The following information should be included with the proposals: the author’s name; a 400-600 word abstract (Word file or PDF); the author’s CV, including relevant publications, if applicable; and the author’s contact details, including email address and phone number. Co-authored papers are also welcomed. Applicants will be informed of the selection committee decision no later than 1 August 2019. For more information, see here.
  • The South Asia International Economic Law Network (SAIELN) is pleased to announce a call for papers for its biennial conference on “The Law of the Blue Economy: International and South Asian Perspectives”. The network is a freestanding body associated with the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) and other IEL groups. The conference shall take place on 27-28 July 2019 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. We welcome proposals of panels, posters and papers on topics related to the conference theme. An abstract of no more than 500 words should be submitted no later than 15 May 2019. The results shall be announced by 20 May 2019. The shortlisted participants are expected to submit the final papers (6000 – 8000 words) by 15 July 2019. For more information, see here and here.

Events

  • The Centre for International Criminal Justice (CICJ), in conjunction with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, is pleased to announce an upcoming conference, “International Criminal Justice at the Crossroads: Reflecting upon the Past, Discussing the Present, and Imagining the Future”. This one-day event brings together different generations of prominent practitioners and scholars studying, observing, and practicing international criminal justice. During interactive roundtable sessions, the panelists will reflect upon the past, discuss how to address current challenges, and imagine the future of criminal justice after atrocities. The day opens with a keynote by a former ICC judge, Christine van den Wyngaert. The conference will take place on Friday, 17 May 2019 at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
