New International Law Blog

New International Law Blog

1948 is a new international law blog from Otto Spijkers and Richard Norman. It is based out of the University of Leiden.

Why is the blog called 1948? I ‘ll let them explain:

1948 was a leap year, beginning on a Thursday. More importantly, 1948 saw the creation of the Organization of American States, the Berlin Blockade and the beginnings of NATO, the implementation of the Marshall Plan and the Message to the Europeans, the establishment of the state of Israel, the adoption of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and the death of Gandhi and Jinnah…. In many ways, 1948 has defined the world we live in today, and that is exactly the topic of this blog: the world we live in. This blog’s contributors have a background in various disciplines: law, politics, economics, and philosophy.

Welcome to the blogosphere!

They probably need to invest in a domain name.

http://weblog.leidenuniv.nl/fdr/1948/ isn’t a particularly easy address to remember, and Googling for “1948” itself is unlikely to quickly turn up the blog.

Dear Chris Borgen,

Thanks very much for the warm welcome to the blogosphere. Responding to Matthew Gross’ comment: I agree that http://weblog.leidenuniv.nl/fdr/1948/ isn’t easy to remember, but we already registered a domain name that is (relatively) easy: http://www.1948blog.com. This will lead you to our blog.

All the best,

Otto Spijkers

Ah, that should work nicely.
