See Akhil Amar’s column yesterday for Findlaw’s Writ, complete with an oceanic theory of the Constitution.
Akhil was a visiting professor at Pepperdine last month and he told me that his next book will focus on global constitutionalism. Should be quite an impressive addition to our field.

I think its inappropriate to say that the view of US oceanic isolation collapsed on the morning of 9-11. Its clear, or at least should be, that 9-11 was as much responsive to prior US involvement and Cold War policies in the Middle East as much as it was the product of a fanatic ideology in geo-terrorism.
