KonKoop Early Careers Lab: The KonKoop (Cooperation and Conflict in Eastern Europe) Research Network is inviting expressions of interest from early career researchers from any disciplinary background (particularly PhD researchers, early post-doctoral researchers, and young professionals) investigating conflict and cooperation in Eastern Europe, Southeast Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus, who are interested in joining its (free) Early Career Lab (ECL) initiative. The ECL, hosted by the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) in Regensburg, is an academic incubator that will provide support, training, and opportunities for knowledge exchange and professional development for its members. 2026/27 Early Career Research Exchange Series: This series invites PhD candidates and early career researchers from any area of international law to present their research or ongoing project, whether completed or in progress, throughout the upcoming academic year.Presentations will be held in person at the University of Edinburgh Law School, with select opportunities for online sessions. Presenters will have 30 to 45 minutes to share their research in the format of their choice. Presentations are then followed by 30 to 45 minutes of Q&A and networking, engaging researchers, faculty, and students, including any visiting scholars from other institutions. While the reading group cannot provide funding at this time for travel or accommodation, the event will be catered with coffee, tea, and snacks. Applications can be submitted here: ILRG Early Career Research Exchange Series – Call for Abstracts – Fill out form. Calls for Papers

Central Asia Yearbook on International Law – Volume 2 (2027): The Central Asia Yearbook on International Law (CAYIL), published by De Gruyter Brill under the Brill | Nijhoff imprint, invites submissions for Volume 2 (2027). CAYIL is the first academic publication of its kind in the region and provides a dedicated forum for rigorous scholarship on international law with particular attention to Central Asia. Contributions examining international law from Central Asian perspectives, by Central Asian scholars, or addressing issues relevant to the region are particularly welcome, although submissions on broader international law topics will also be considered. The Yearbook accepts scholarly articles as well as practice-oriented essays, reflections, case and treaty notes, literature reviews, and surveys of State practice. All research articles undergo double-blind peer review. The submission deadline is 31 March 2027, with rolling submissions accepted. Yerevan International Conference on International Humanitarian Law: The Armenian International Law Association (AILA), with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Armenia, invites scholars, practitioners, humanitarian actors, diplomats, military experts, and students to submit abstracts for the Yerevan International Conference on International Humanitarian Law: Protecting Humanity in Armed Conflict: Contemporary Challenges for International Humanitarian Law scheduled for 27 and 28 November in Yerevan, Armenia.

Abstracts are invited under one of the following four thematic panels, developed in line with the priorities of the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to IHL: (1) Preventing Violations of IHL: Compliance, Deterrence and Early Warning; (2) Protecting Civilians, Essential Services and Cultural Heritage; (3) Modernizing IHL for Emerging Threats and New Domains of Warfare; and (4) Linking IHL to Peacebuilding and Reconciliation. Application submission deadline is 7 September 2026.  

Volume 30 of the Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law (UNYB): The Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law (UNYB) seeks contributions for its forthcoming Volume 30, with a special forum section on ‘The Wider United Nations System: Subsidiary Organs, Specialised Agencies, and Related Organisations at a Time of Strain’. The forum seeks to explore, among others, the following overarching question: To what extent do the diverse institutions and entities that comprise the wider United Nations system remain effective and resilient in advancing their mandates, and how might their institutional design, inter-institutional relationships, and normative role evolve in response to contemporary global challenges?

The deadline for receipt of abstract proposals is 28 August 2026. Following a positive assessment of their abstract proposal, authors will be required to submit a full draft of their manuscript by 15 November 2026, which will be subject to the UNYB’s standard double-blind peer-review process, prior to any final decision on publication. Early-Career Scholars Colloquium – Fairness in International Economic Law: Submissions are invited for the Doctoral and Early-Career Scholars Colloquium “Fairness in International Economic Adjudication: Procedure, Substance, and Institutional Design”, to be held on 10 December 2026 at the University of Geneva.

The colloquium will explore competing conceptions of fairness in the interpretation, application, and institutional development of international economic law. Papers are welcomed on topics including international investment law and arbitration, WTO law and dispute settlement, international taxation, economic sanctions, sustainable development, and related areas of international economic governance.

The colloquium is convened by Vasiliki Dritsa, PhD Candidate and Teaching Assistant in International Law at the University of Geneva, with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Conférence universitaire de Suisse occidentale (CUSO).

Submission deadline: 30 September 2026 (at vasiliki.dritsa@unige.ch). Selected participants will be notified by 8 October 2026. A limited number of travel and accommodation grants will be available in accordance with SNSF and CUSO funding regulations.
