PhD Workshop – Law, Environment and Vulnerability(ies): What are the connections between law, the environment and vulnerability(ies)? Organised by Shpresa Salihu and Tamara Grigoras, this workshop aimed at doctoral candidates and early-career researchers seeks to provide a space for reflection on the relationships between these three notions at both the national and international levels, whether approached from a legal perspective or through an interdisciplinary lens. The workshop will be held online on 2 September 2026.
Doctoral candidates and early-career researchers wishing to participate are invited to submit a short abstract (maximum 300 words), together with a curriculum vitae, by 1 June 2026 to the workshop organisers: Tamara Grigoras (tamara.grigoras@unifr.ch) and Shpresa Salihu (shpresa.salihu@unifr.ch).

From Transitional to Transformative Justice: Rethinking Justice Beyond Mechanisms: The Transformative Justice Institute will host a one-day online seminar on 31 May 2026 (13:00–18:00 CEST), bringing together an international group of students, researchers, and practitioners to engage with the evolving relationship between transitional justice and transformative justice. The seminar critically examines the limitations of established mechanisms—such as truth commissions, reparations, and accountability processes—while exploring how justice approaches can move toward long-term structural transformation.
The program combines concise expert input with interactive discussions and case-based reflections, engaging with current global developments including reparations debates, post-conflict accountability efforts, and the ongoing relevance of colonial legacies. Designed as a collaborative and discussion-based format, the seminar aims to foster critical exchange across disciplines and practice areas. Further information and registration here.
