Events

David Kennedy to deliver the annual International Law and Global Justice Lecture on February 27: David Kennedy, the Manley O. Hudson Professor of Law of Harvard Law School, will deliver the University of Western Ontario’s fifth annual International Law and Global Justice Lecture on February 27 at 12:30pm (EST) by Zoom. In his lecture, entitled “International Law and Justice?”, Professor Kennedy will assess the conventional – and hopeful – association of international law with “justice,” exploring the place of “international law” in the broader fabric of global legality and the reasons one might – or might not – expect it to contribute to global “justice” or “problem solving.”  In light of the current military conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, he will focus on the relationship between modern war and modern law. All are invited. You can register for the Zoom lecture here.

Rethinking Human Rights Treaty Withdrawals: The Maastricht Centre for Human Rights is pleased to invite you to a hybrid session as part of its Pick Our Brain Series on 14 March from 13:30 to 15:00 CET, where Başak Çalı and Larry Helfer will discuss ‘Rethinking Human Rights Treaty Withdrawals.’ The event will take place in person at Maastricht University and also via Zoom. Register here.
