Virtual Panel Discussion on International Institutions and COVID-19: A Third World Perspective

The Centre for International Legal Studies at OP Jindal Global Law School is conducting a series of event titled International Law, Political Economy and Covid-19. The second event of the series is a zoom panel discussion on “Can We Reimagine International Institutions? A Third World Perspective” on 25 July 2020 from 3:30 – 4:30 PM.

This panel discussion is based on the idea that, as Covid-19 has exposed already existing fault-lines and structural divides within the mainstream model of international governance, there is a definite need to think about reimagining international institutions that not only are responsive to the blind-spots of the current framework but also are based on a wider and more inclusive set of concerns.

Taking inspiration from this observation, this panel discussion aims at having a critical debate on the following related questions: Are interests of Global South represented adequately in the responses to Covid-19; How International legal principles and institutions operate to create/develop the existing visions of global solidarity; What would be important considerations while making a roadmap for considerable reforms in the overall framework of international governance?

The panelists for the event are Dr. Bhupinder S Chimni, Distinguish Professor of International Law, Jindal Global Law School; Dr. Titilayo Adebola, Lecturer, School of Law, University of Aberdeen; Mr. K. M. Gopakumar, Legal  Advisor & Senior Researcher, Third World Network; Mr. Sachin Sathyarajan, Lecturer, Jindal Global Law School and Mr. Ishupal Singh Kang, Lecturer, Jindal Global Law School.

The zoom link for the event can be found here.
