Text of Ahmadinejad Letter to Bush

A copy of the letter from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to President George Bush is now available. A copy of it is here. Here is a short summary:

President Bush you are a hypocrite. (page 1). You profess to be a Christian, present liberalism as a civilized model, oppose WMDs, and work toward a unified international community, but yet also destroy and occupy other countries.

Your actions are inconsistent with Christianity. (page 2). I fail to understand how your actions at Guantanamo and secret prisons in Europe correspond to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Holocaust provides no justification for Israel to exist. (page 2). People claim that six million Jews were killed in WWII. But even if that is true, does that rationalise or explain the existence of the state of Israel? Israel has killed thousands, left millions as refugees, and destroyed hundreds of thousands of hectares of property.

Scientific Research and Development is a basic right of nations. (page 3). If the possibility of scientific achievements being utilised for military purposes is reason enough to oppose science and technology, than all disciplines, including physics, chemistry, math, medicine, and engineering must be opposed.

Latin America and Africa are being exploited. (page 3). Why is Latin America constantly being threatened? Why doesn’t Africa have the right to ask why its enormous wealth is being looted?

We deplore the events of September 11. (page 4). “September Eleven was a horrendous incident. The killing of innocents is deplorable and appalling in any part of the world. Our government immediately declared its disgust with the perpetrators and offered its condolences to the bereaved and expressed its sympathies.”

The United States is complicit in the events of September 11. (page 4) “Reportedly your government employs extensive security, protection and intelligence systems… Could [September 11] be planned and executed without coordination with intelligence and security services–or their extensive infiltration? Of course this is just an educated guess…”

The money spent on the war in Iraq should be deployed to help your own poor. (page 5). The fact that many thousands are homeless and unemployed is a huge problem. With these conditions in mind, can the gargantuan expenses of the war in Iraq be explained?

What would Jesus do? (page 6). If the prophets and Jesus were with us today, how would they judge our behavior? Will we be given a role to play in the promised world where justice will become universal and Jesus Christ will be present. Would they even accept us?

Restoration of divine teachings is the only way for the future. (page 6-7). Muslims, Christians and Jews are all monotheists who worship one God. A return to the teachings of the divine prophets is the only road leading to salvation. You are a Christian. We also believe in Jesus Christ as a great prophet. The God of all people is one. He is the Almighty who wants to guide and give dignity to all His servants.

On Judgment Day leaders must give account for their actions. (page 7). The day will come whan all humans will congregate before the court of the Almighty, so that their deeds are examined. It will not be easy to calculate the actions of rulers, because we must be answerable to our nations and all others whose lives have been directly or indirectly affected by our actions.

Return to the great universal principles of God. (page 7). All prophets speak of peace and tranquility for man based on monotheism, justice, and respect for human dignity. If we all came to believe in and abide by these principles we could overcome the present problems of the world. Belief in these principles could promote and guarantee peace, friendship, and justice.

Repressive and cruel governments do not survive. (page 8). History tells us that repressive and cruel governments do not survive.

Our actions are directed by God. (page 8). Many things have happened contrary to the wishes and plans of governments. These tell us that there is a higher power at work and all events are determined by Him.

The people of the world are disgusted. (page 8). The people of the world are not happy with the status quo. They want change. They are protesting the gap between the haves and the have-nots. They are disgusted by corruption. They are angry about attacks on their cultural foundations. They have no faith in international organizations, because their rights are not advocated by these organisations.

Liberalism and Western-style democracy have failed humanity. (page 8). Liberalism and Western-style democracy have not been able to help realize the ideals of humanity. We hear the sounds of the shattering and fall of the ideology and thoughts of liberal democratic systems.

I invite you to join the people in their return to God. (page 8). People around the world are flocking towards a main focal point, that is Almighty God. Through faith in God and the teachings of the prophets, the people will conquer their problems. My question for you is “Do you want to join them?”
