Eduardo Cavalcanti de Mello Filho is a Brazilian-qualified lawyer specializing in general international law and the law of the sea. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Law at University College London, where he is a UCL200 Faculty of Laws Research Scholar.

Prior to this, Eduardo worked as a research associate at the Centre for International Law, National University of Singapore, as a research assistant at the University of Geneva, and as an intern at the UN Office of Legal Affairs, Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea.

Eduardo’s research and publications are mainly on the law of the sea, having been awarded the V Daniel Vignes Prix in 2025 for the best law of the sea paper in the biennial by the Association Internationale du Droit de la Mer (AssiDMer).

He has a Bachelor’s in Legal and Social Sciences from his hometown Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil, with a semester spent at the University of Hamburg, Germany, and a Master’s degree in International Law from the Geneva Graduate Institute.
