Call for Written Submissions
- The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) has opened a call for written submissions on the misuse of criminal law in the areas of sexuality, reproduction, drug use, and HIV. This is an important opportunity for civil society, academics, law makers, human rights experts, community groups and persons affected by the relevant criminal laws, to provide input, including on the effect of such criminal laws, when and how criminal law should be used, what reforms are needed and what role criminal law should play in the relevant areas. Accepted submissions will feed into the development of a set of principles to address the detrimental impact on health, equality and human rights of criminalization with a focus on select conduct in the areas of sexuality, reproduction, drug use, and HIV. The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2019. Please send your submissions, as well as any questions or clarifications, to decrimconsultation [at] icj [dot] org.
Call for Papers
- The International Law and Human Rights Unit, part of the School of Law and Social Justice at the University of Liverpool, welcomes paper, poster and ‘soapbox’ proposals for its 3rd Annual Postgraduate Conference in International Law and Human Rights. The conference will take place on 17-18 June 2019. The theme of the conference is: ‘Hope in International Law and Human Rights’. The conference theme should be broadly conceived, and we encourage proposals from any postgraduate student specialising in international law, human rights or related subjects. The conference offers a unique opportunity for postgraduate/doctoral students to present and discuss their work in a stimulating and friendly academic environment, among peers with similar research interests. Abstracts of no more than 300 words can be sent to ilhrucon [at] liverpool [dot] ac [dot] uk, along with a short biography (100 words). The deadline for submissions is 1 April 2019. Please click here for more information about the conference theme and call for papers.
