17 Oct Right-Wing Hate Group Leader: Gays Responsible for the Holocaust
The leader in question, not surprisingly, is Bryan Fischer, the head of the extremely powerful American Family Association. Here is what he said in an interview:
Hitler recruited around him homosexuals to make up his Stormtroopers, they were his enforcers, they were his thugs. And Hitler discovered that he could not get straight soldiers to be savage and brutal and vicious enough to carry out his orders, but that homosexual solders basically had no limits and the savagery and brutality they were willing to inflict on whomever Hitler sent them after. So he surrounded himself, virtually all of the Stormtroopers, the Brownshirts, were male homosexuals.
I’m not even going to take a cheap shot at conservatives. No conservative I know would ever say something that stupid and offensive.
I’ll take a shot at progressives, since Fischer is obviously a fascist.
This is largely American propaganda biting us in the butt: to discredit the Nazis, Americans claimed rampant homosexuality in the Nazi ranks, which is demographically impossible. Granted, a number of top Nazi officials were gay, but a number were straight as well— this says nothing about the essential character of the Nazis. In addition, a number of gays were killed during the Holocaust— again, American propaganda making the Holocaust look like a predominately Jewish Holocaust is biting us here.
Finally, just because the SPLC labels a group a “hate” group doesn’t mean a thing. The SPLC is a far-left group that receives much more attention and credit than it deserves.
The AFA richly deserves its hate group-label. And the SPLC has done more to combat hate groups than any other organization currently in existence. Call them far-left if you want; if combating racism and fascism and hatred is left-wing, the description is a compliment.
Presuming “hate group” to be objectively definable and not simply a pejorative (similar to “hate speech”), and even presuming the AFA falls within that objective definition, that still fails to account for the selective nature of those that make it on the list and those who do not.
The bottom line is that the SPLC is an organization that lumps certain sorts of domestic terrorists in with peaceful-but-disfavored political groups in an effort to confuse the general public about the latter. It would be like starting a similar group on the “right” and list the following: (1) Weather Underground, (2) New Black Panthers, (3) Sendero Luminoso, and (4) MSNBC.
I hope someone looks in the attic and pulls out an ancestor’s pink triangle. Shameful!
Guest,
Sorry, don’t get it. There is nothing wrong with lumping groups like the AFA and terrorist groups in the “hate group” category. All terrorist groups are hate groups; not all hate groups are terrorists groups. The SPLC doesn’t claim that AFA uses violence (although they certainly promote it against abortion doctors).
