Doctoral Workshop on Sustainability and Public Law: The ‘Sustainability and Public Law’ PhD project, part of the Radboud Research Centre for State and Law (SteR), would like to invite you to a doctoral workshop exploring questions of sustainability in public law on 7 April 2025. During the workshop, PhD candidates can present their research and brainstorm creative and multidisciplinary approaches to this varied and complex legal issue through several thematic panels. The workshop provides an opportunity to exchange ideas and critical perspectives on the way public law addresses sustainability together with peers currently working in this dynamic field.
PhD candidates whose research explores different aspects of sustainability and public law are encouraged to apply by 3 March 2025. More information about the workshop and the application can be found here.

The journal provides a platform for cross-country comparative legal research, interdisciplinary approaches, and connections between various legal fields, including the integration of philosophy, economics, political science, and technology studies. Trends in Intellectual Property Research: Trends in Intellectual Property Research invites research papers, review papers, and case comments in all domains of intellectual property (IP) law. This includes, but is not limited to, topics related to patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, industrial design, internet law, privacy, unfair competition, antitrust, and IP rights, and issues like parallel imports and copyright exhaustion doctrines. New Initiative to Support EU Environmental Crime Directive Implementation: The Working Group (WG) on National Criminalization of Ecocide has been launched to assist lawmakers and NGOs across the European Union in implementing the new EU Environmental Crime Directive (ECD). The WG will be issuing a manual for lawmakers, political parties, and others striving for an ambitious implementation of the ECD in national law.
Founding members include Sjoerd Lopik, a partner in the International Law firm De Roos, Richard Rogers (of the Climate Counsel) and Kate Mackintosh (The Promise Institute Europe), both of the Ecocide Law Advisory and both members of the Independent Expert Panel which devised the definition of Ecocide in 2021. The group was initiated by former Dutch MP Lammert van Raan, who introduced the ecocide bill in the Netherlands. The WG is expected to present the manual around the end of January 2025.
