09 Sep Bolton Nomination “Alive”?
Readers of Opinio Juris have a rare chance to determine who is a more reliable Washington pundit: Steve Clemons of the Washington Note or Fred Barnes of the Weekly Standard. As Kevin points out below, Clemons is reporting that Bolton’s nomination is “dead.” At the same time, Fred Barnes has devoted a full cover story in the Weekly Standard reporting that Bolton will be confirmed.
Someone is going to be proven wrong, which is really cool, because Washington pundits rarely say anything that can be falsified. Just to make things interesting, I will bet Kevin that Barnes is right. If I lose (which is entirely possible, Barnes is often wrong), I will buy Kevin a beer next time he comes to New York at a bar I know near Turtle Bay. Of course, if I win, I will expect Kevin to buy me that beer. So stay tuned…
It’s a bet!
