There is an Atlantic Monthly crew doing some good blogging out of this week’s Aspen Ideas Festival. The most interesting entry so far reports on a session (with University of Chicago lawprof Dennis Hutchinson) on how Harry Blackmun was influenced by Aspen seminars; one can imagine similar history thirty years from now looking at how international conference travel figured in the evolution of Anthony Kennedy’s jurisprudence. There are a couple of international law-related panels later in the week, with appearances by Stephen Breyer, Sandra Day O’Connor, Michael Posner, and Samantha Power, among others. PS: Fordham international lawprof Catherine Powell is there.

One thing it got us thinking about was hippiedom and the extent to which remnants of that survive. One of our students grew up in a series of communes. Are there any communes still around?
