Response…I first came to know professor Bassiouni when I was doing my masters degree in Nottingham University in 1995. At that time I read almost all of his books on international criminal law, extradition and international criminal law. I was so excited to meet him in person in the Rome conference on the establishment of the ICC and subsequently in NYC at the UN. I also worked with him in the Arab league. Then when he headed the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry I got a full chance to learn from him and work closely with this unique and amazing personality. I kept in direct communication with him for about 6 years. I have always wondered how he became such a great scholar . The answer is found in his last message above. No body can reach that amount of knowledge without a believe that unites him with the whole universe and its creator. The more strong this bond with the creator and unity with His creation is the more knowledge man can get. Humanity and knowledge are universal. RIP professor Bassiouni , I have still loads of things to learn from you……

John Evrard

“At the twilight a moon appeared in the sky.
Then it landed on Earth to look at me.
Like a hawk stealing a bird at the time of prey,
That moon stole me, then rushed back into the sky.

I looked at myself.
I did not see me anymore,
For in that moon my body turned as fine as soul.
The Nine Spheres disappeared in that moon.
The ship of my existence drowned in that sea.”

“And thoughts of him I love.”

“Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged,
Missing me one place search another.
I stop somewhere waiting for you.”
