Call for Abstracts – SAIELN’s Third Biennial Conference on Food Security and International Law: Critical and Interdisciplinary Perspectives: SAIELN is a collaborative network of academics, practitioners and officials in the field of International Economic Law, articulating their views, brainstorming ideas, and importantly, nurturing and developing the field of international economic law especially in the South Asia region.

SAIELN organises biennial conferences on key and emerging issues in international economic law. Following the successful conclusion of two conferences, SAIELN is set to host the third biennial conference on Food Security and International Law: Critical and Interdisciplinary Perspectives on 16th – 17th December 2022 in Kochi, Kerala. The conference aims to provide a platform for experts, policymakers, lawyers, academics, economists, and civil society partners to exchange views on the multifaceted challenges of food security and offer innovative legal and policy solutions to address them. An abstract of 500 words should be submitted to southasiaiel@gmail.com by 5 November 2022. Further details regarding the Conference are available here.

Call for Papers – Revista Tribuna Internacional: Revista Tribuna Internacional is the official journal of the International Law Department at the University of Chile. It is indexed in LATINDEX and DOAX; and is working towards being incorporated in SCIELO, SCOPUS, and WOS. We invite submissions, in English or Spanish, of unpublished papers in the field of Public International Law, Private International Law, International Human Rights Law, and International Relations. University of Essex Public International Law Lecture Series : The Essex Public International Law Lecture Series is a weekly online lecture series featuring judges of international courts and tribunals, leading academics, and practitioners of international law from governmental service, international organizations, and private practice from across the globe.

The Essex Public International Law lecture series is founded, hosted and co-chaired by Dr Meagan Wong and Dr Emily Jones based in the Essex Law School. The series prides itself on building upon two important intellectual traditions of international law: formalism and international legal practice, and international legal theory including postcolonial and feminist perspectives. We welcome all students, academics, practitioners and legal advisors to join us.

The next lecture is on Monday 17 October at 18:00 BST, titled ‘The Invasion of Ukraine and the Politics of ‘Hypocrisy’’. The speaker will be Dr Robert Knox. More information and Zoom registration can be found here.

LJIL Symposium on the Effects of International Judges’ Personal Characteristics on Their Judging: As a relevant and timely contribution to the studies of international judging, this Symposium Issue edited by Gregor Maučec & Shai Dothan and forthcoming in the Leiden Journal of
International Law examines – from legal, sociological and political science perspectives – the role and impact of international judges’ personal backgrounds on their decision-making and reasoning. The Symposium will be published in full in December 2022 in Issue 35(4).
