Call for Papers

  • The Senior Legal Advisor to the UN Special Rapporteur on Counter-terrorism and Human Rights is pleased to announce a call for inputs published by the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, Ms. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin. The Special Rapporteur is studying the impact of the proliferation of “soft law” instruments and related standard-setting initiatives and processes in the counter-terrorism context on the promotion and protection of human rights at the global, regional, and domestic level. The outcome of the study will contribute to the report of the Special Rapporteur to be submitted to the 74th session of the General Assembly. To this end, the Special Rapporteur is eager to consult a wide range of stakeholders, including States, United Nations agencies, funds and programs, other international and regional organizations, national human rights institutions, civil society organizations and private sector entities, academia and other experts in order to benefit from their diverse views and experience on these matters. All submissions should be sent electronically (Word format) in English, French or Spanish, no later than 30 June 2019 to srct [at] ohchr [dot] org using the email title: “Submission for SRCT report on soft law”. Kindly limit submissions to 2,500 words and attach annexes where necessary.   • The Constitutional Court of Indonesia, in co-operation with The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the Journal Constitutional Review, are pleased to announce a call for papers for an international conference on the “Protection of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights at an age of ‘Exits'”, which will take place on 21-22 November 2019 at The Hague, The Netherlands. The conference will discuss a number of issues concerning the protection of ESC rights at a critical juncture for international law and focus on challenges and ways forward. It aspires to address both theoretical and practical aspects of the relevant discourse through a wide variety of panels. Perspectives from the realm of human rights law, but also comparative constitutional law, national constitutional discourse, political science and critical theory are welcome.
