  • Poland has summoned the United States’ ambassador in Warsaw over an article written by a top U.S. intelligence official on Poland’s alleged responsibility for the Holocaust during World War Two, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Sunday.
  • After months of positive progress, the two and a half-year-old peace process in Colombia between the government and rebel group the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) is in crisis once again.

Ambassador Mull’s own remarks are, so to say, “offensive” — apparently he has never heard of the Vichy French !

I will leave a full assessment of complicity of Polish authorities in post-war anti-Semitic violence — by action or inaction — to wiser people such as Anne Applebaum. But diplomatic fiends who have served in Poland with visibly Jewish names still say it is unpleasant for their children. And in my own limited sample size, might add that after an OSCE Human Security meeting, the Warsaw city taxi driver pointed to a bus near the airport and said “those are the Jews … they’ve come to reclaim their property and we don’t like it”
